Mackenzie and MGM Racing Performance strike a deal to compete once again in 2026
The Ducati independent team and their Scottish rider have put the pieces in place to pave their way into a spot on the 2026 field
The MGM Performance team has officially announced that they and their Scottish rider, Tarran Mackenzie, will remain in the MOTUL FIM Superbike World Championship in 2026. The German squad switched to the Ducati V4 R after four seasons with the BMW M1000 RR. Tarran Mackenzie showed glimpses of greatness on the bike throughout the season, and the news that the team has a confirmed spot in the Championship in 2026 will put wind in the Scotsman’s sails.
Mackenzie climbed his way up the ranks of British Motorcycle racing, including a second-place finish in the British Moto3 Championship in 2013. After appearing in the Red Bull Rookies Cup that same season and two subsequent years in British Superstock 600, ‘Taz’ won the British Supersport Championship in his 2016 rookie year in the class. That earned him a Moto2 wildcard appearance prior to five years in BSB from 2018 to 2022. In 2023, he earned his move up to the World Supersport Championship, where he competed for a single year before making his leap to the WorldSBK field. 2025, however, was the #95’s first season in the WorldSBK paddock riding on a Ducati after his change to MGM Racing Performance from PETRONAS MIE Honda that occurred before Round 8 in Hungary. The change seemed to suit Mackenzie’s riding style, as he placed in the top 10 five times after never placing that high before.
On he and his team’s 2026, Mackenzie said: “I’m so happy to be continuing with MGM Racing for 2026! Joining Michael and his team in Hungary was a real pleasure and brought that enjoyment back into my racing that I had lost, as well as confidence. By the end of the season, I really started to feel like my old self again. From having no ride to then achieving my best results in WSBK was something I couldn’t have imagined, and to end the year like we did in Jerez was the perfect way to go into the off-season. My journey in WSBK so far hasn’t been an easy one, but I really feel like I’ve found my home with this team, and I can’t wait to see what 2026 brings.“
